Israeli army brutality: Firing on hungry people taking sacks of flour in Gaza, eyewitnesses described 'horrific scene'

At least 44 people were killed and more than 207 injured when the Israeli army opened fire on hundreds of hungry Palestinians who had come to collect relief supplies in the central region of Gaza. The attack took place when people were queuing up to collect sacks of flour from an aid center run by the Israeli and US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). Eyewitnesses described the scene as "horrific" and "massacre". Let's analyze the incident based on facts.

What happened in Gaza?

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the Israeli army opened fire on people waiting for aid trucks near Wadi Gaza in central Gaza on Tuesday. Eyewitness Mohammad Kabagha said, "We were in line to get food. Suddenly shots were fired, people started running screaming. I saw people falling in front of me." Bodies piled up in hospitals, and many injured are battling for life.

The Israeli army claimed the firing was done "as a warning" because "suspects" were moving towards the soldiers and ignoring warnings. The army described it as an incident that took place at night in an "active war zone".

Horrific statement of eyewitnesses

Palestinian eyewitnesses said the attack took place at around 2 am, when people had reached the aid center before dawn. An injured youth said, "We had gone to get help. They asked us to stand in line, but then started firing. I felt dizzy and fell." The scene was so horrific that people were screaming after seeing the bodies of their relatives.

Such incidents have happened before

This is not the first time. On June 1, 2025, 31 Palestinians were killed in Israeli firing on a food distribution center in Rafah. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, 163 people have been killed and 1,495 injured in such incidents in the 20-month war.

Global condemnation and humanitarian crisis

UN Special Coordinator Tor Wennesland condemned these attacks, saying, "Gaza is becoming a bigger crime scene every day. No place is safe." Israel's blockade and attacks in Gaza have led to extreme hunger, where people are risking their lives for food.

Conclusion

This firing by the Israeli army further deepened Gaza's humanitarian crisis. Attacking hungry people is not only a violation of international law but also a crime against humanity. Despite the condemnation of the global community, the violence in Gaza does not stop.
